Sophisticated Piano Music And Elegant Band Entertainment - Stan's Music Notes

Monday, September 8th, 2014

In the past year I have noticed a definite trend in both wedding cocktail hours and dinner music – to the return or more elegant and sophisticated music. The music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, the Great American Songbook etc. This has always been the staple at the more upper end country clubs and social events. It almost seems to be a statement by the current  generation of brides and grooms to elevate the level of their weddings.

Many first dances have returned to the traditional standards of Gershwin and Porter and it is not uncommon for brides and grooms to take dance lessons to show off their skills. Danceable Jazz as well as Swing and Big Band Music keep gaining in popularity.

This has been a wonderful surprise to the older guests attending reception.

Great  American Songbook Radio broadcasts from The Netherlands to the United States , Europe and Asia on both radio and internet radio. This past week the station has selected my piano CD “MUSIC TO DRIVE BY”    to be featured and promoted on their station. Different selections from my CD will be featured at the top of each hour. Today I recorded a voice introduction for the CD and it is already being prepared at Great American Songbook Radio in The Netherlands.

The Piano CD is my personal and emotional arrangements of music of the Great American Songbook composers. I hope you enjoy listening to the CD as much as I enjoyed recording it. lbum cover inside
